How to customize an AI software build prompt

You should not need to rewrite a long product specification to change its colors or remove a feature. Section-based editing lets you change the relevant part while retaining the rest of the brief.

Choose a reference and read the scope

Open a tool page and check the starting features, storage approach, and exclusions. Each brief is a scoped MVP inspired by a familiar workflow, not a promise to reproduce every feature of the reference product.

For example, the Spotify-inspired prompt builds a player for permitted audio files. The GitHub-inspired prompt builds a project hub with file snapshots rather than a Git hosting server.

Pick the right section

Product & audience defines who the app helps and the main outcome. Design defines its visual identity and interaction layout. Features defines the actions users can complete.

Tech stack sets implementation and infrastructure preferences. Data & behavior defines storage, relationships, scope boundaries, and acceptance checks. Choose more than one section when a change affects several of these.

Write concrete requirements

Replace vague directions such as “make it better” with observable behavior: “allow a card to move using a keyboard menu” or “export the currently filtered table as CSV.” For design, specify typography, color, layout, and interaction priorities.

If you remove a feature, say whether related data and interface controls should also be removed. The final prompt tells the coding agent to reconcile customized requirements with the baseline model.

Review the assembled brief

The review step shows the entire Markdown prompt with edited sections highlighted. Check that the remaining instructions still make sense for your project. Save and copy the full brief or download it as an .md file.

Saved customizations live in the current browser. They are included in later copies and downloads. Use the Markdown download as a backup or to move the brief to another device.

Iterate after using the result

Once the agent builds the app, test the real workflow. Update the brief with specific gaps you observe instead of adding a long list of speculative features.

You can restore an individual section to its original text, or reset all saved customizations from the tool page. The original catalog brief remains available.

Your next build starts with a brief.
